Who is a good teacher?

 A lot of students, who are studying maths, languages, biology and other subjects, may choose a teacher's profession after their graduation. But do they all know who a good teacher is? Do all of us can become teachers? I do not think so. Because teaching is one of the most difficult jobs and students' knowledge often depends on the teacher. That is why a good teacher should be an excellent specialist of the subject he teaches, he should also be open for new technologies and new teaching methods, and he should also have a complex of very particular character's features.


 First of all, a good teacher must know everything about his subject. It is not enough to graduate the university, to get a diploma and just work and not improve knowledge and skills. Moreover, at the university a person gets really not enough knowledge and practice, so if one wants to be a brilliant specialist he should attend various courses, read lots of books about his subject and maybe do some practice abroad.


 Furthermore, an excellent teacher should be interested in new teaching methods and up-to-date technologies. Nowadays most of people have computers at home, the society is fascinated by everything which is new, modern and connected to technology. It is quite normal that students better accept various multimedia equipment than traditional blackboards. Also a lot of students prefer using electronic books, writing and doing other tasks in computers. This "help" from modern technologies may be very useful for a good teacher.


 Not every person could become a teacher because of his character. Good teacher should have some character features which could let him work even with very playing-up children. As we all know, children nowadays are becoming more and more rude and rebellious, so the teacher should know how to compel them to study and how to calm them down. Good educationalist should be very patient, calm, a little bit strict and he should also be for students a little bit friend, but of course, there should be a respect from both sides.


 To sum up, I think that not everyone of us could be a really good teacher. This profession is not very easy, so first of all a person should think if he truly wants to choose this profession. Because a good teacher must always improve his qualification, he must always care about new things in his subject. He must also be open to new teaching methods and technologies. And the most important thing, he should carry suitable character features such as patient and calmness.
