Practice Writing Supporting Sentences

1. I love eating food from different countries.
a. It helps to know different cultures, their traditions.
b. It shows that there is a huge variety of different meals and it lets to understand which food I like most.
c. It also brings to your daily menu more healthy meals, because you can choose from lots of different of them what do you want to eat.

2. Summer is my favourite season.
a. In summer the weather is warm and I like such weather conditions.
b. In summer I usually have holiday and I can do whatever I want.
c. Summer is my favourite season, because I always have a lot of time to meet with my friends and to go to the nature.

3. There is too much violence on television.
a. There are too many movies about fighting and killing.
b. On the news there is always something said about crimes which had happened at that day.
c. There is too much violence on television, because even on music channels you can see lots of crime scenes.

4. There are several ways to concerne electricity.
a. You must always turn off the light when you go out of the room.
b. You should change regular electric bulbs into electricity saving ones.
c. You should not keep all electricity divices on, for example, if you are listening to music, you should turn off the TV.

5. It is almost impossible to study in my dormitory.
a. Because I always find a lot of other things to do, for example, to go out with my roomates or neighbours.
b. Because sometimes the neighbours are too loud.
c. Because I do not like to live there, I miss my home and I cannot concentrate.

D. Many young actors and actresses dream of becoming stars, but in reality stardom has its drawbacks as well as its attractions.
On the one hand, actors and actresses are famous, people love and adore them and because of that they earn a lot of money. Young people think that such life might be fascinating and glamorous.
Also, being famous means knowing a lot of other famous people, having famous and interesting friends.
On the other hand, being a star can be very stresful. A star must always look perfect, must always be in a good mood and friendly with his/her fans, even if he/she feels bad.
Not only that, but there are more disadvantages of being famous. Well-known people are almost always under presure of paparazzis, which try to know and sell every, even the most secret detail of their lives. Because of this presure famous people begin to drink and to use drugs and this is the easiest way to lose fame, career and even life.
Ultimately, it is natural that young actors and actresses dream of becoming stars, because their life might become more interesting then. But a star should be only that person who is strong and who is prepare to share his personal life with the whole world.

E. As an Olympic Gold Medalist, I am often asked what is the best way to spend the night before a big race.
On the one hand, going out with friends or family, having a little party with closest relatives may be good. Because you can relax and do not think about what will happen tomorrow. You just enjoy your time and have fun.
On the other hand, you can stay at your hotel room and just be with yourself, with your thoughts. This way is good, because you have enough time to prepare psychological and to consider what could happen, how could the big race end and, of course, to concentrate.
Personally, though, I think that better way is to stay alone, to concentrate and to prepare well psychological.

F. There are many reasons why I love my mother.
One reason is being always there when I need her. I know that whatever may happen she will always stand by my side. Because of that I feel much safier in this world.
Another reason is that we are really good friends and we always have fun together. We like to go in a cafe, to sit there, to drink some tee and to talk about everything we want.
What is more, I like the fact that our personalities are quiet similiar. I am sure that when she was at the age of mine, she was just like me. Maybe, because of that she understands me very well.
