I think that writing a blog is also a great idea. This method help me to write often in various themes.
I can also check my groupmates' blogs, comment them. In this way of learning I see not only mistakes of my own, but also mistakes of my friends. What I like the most is that after some time I can go to my blog and read everything one more time. When I am doing that, I always find new mistakes, which I can correct.
Moreover, I think that we should have more writing lectures. One lecture in two weeks is really not enough.
But it is still better than nothing.
Writing a blog is a great idea, I agree. On the other hand, I wish we had more 'free style' topics. I wouldn't mind having writing lectures more frequently too, but who knows, maybe on the next semester/year the situation will be better.

And I understand that writing whatever and whenever you want is much more fun, but still you should remember that you are students at university and during the study years you should master the academic writing style on the topics given to you by the teacher. Later, in your personal life you'll be able to write about the things that interest you.

Gintare, when writing your blog, please, pay more attention to your grammar as you tend to make quite a lot of mistakes.
